he sits on his stool
he sips his beer
and wonders why
vodka is clear
he smells her first
her perfume sweet
he can hear her heart pound
but no sound from her feet
he thinks to himself
my god what has she done
doesn't even know
he's not the only one
she sits with a sigh
her lips slightly parted
not really prepared
for what's about to get started
she drowns her sorrows
in cocktails so blue
he says to her softly
i was a dreamer too
their eyes meet
talk for hours it seems
both of them hope
they never wake from the dream
painting the picture
telling no lies
sooner or later
both will die
hard to imagine
nothing is what it seems
but you cant live your life
on cocktails and dreams
