I feel your pain. Whenever I go to the library the teen section is filled with books on romance or vampires. >_< So I go to the kid's section. :D

Here's some suggestions

• Skulduggery Pleasant- funny with lots of action, with limited romance.
• The Immortal Nicholas Flammel- fantasy, it's pretty good
• 47 (Walter Mosley)- about slavery and aliens or something
• Heir Apparent- some romance, but not the Twilight kind
• May Bird- about a girl who has to get out of the world of the dead (cute characters)
• Artemis Fowl- about a boy genius and an underground fairy world
• Hunger Games- girl and boy have to survive in the hunger games (some romance-ish stuff)
  
• Cirque du Freak- okay, the main topic is vampires, and there's a bit of romance, but it's good, in my opinion.
• Nobody's Princess- Mmm... don't remember this one much, but its about the Princess Helen of Sparta or something (am I wrong?)
• Lion Boy- about a boy who can talk to cats and has to save his parents
• Books by Eric Walters (he writes stories about world issues, like Tsunamis and Earthquakes and stuff)
