I wrote a poem about the DC fireworks, and I thought I should put it on this site....cuz im strange like that
we sat on the steps of the Lincoln memorial and looked across the Reflecting Pool towards the Washington Monument. On the Washington Monument, there is a little red light that alerts planes that it's there.
When the catchy music send its cue
Its time for the colors of every hue
From red to green, to pink to yellow
These colorful flowers will please every fellow
They rise from the dark to light up the sky
Making everyone watch them with their heads pointed high
We sit on the steps, in front of ol' Honest Abe.
Next to a couple who whispers "Hey, look babe."
Staring across the pool that reveals all
Is the one great monument that stand straight and tall
Despite the flashing lights and the occasional boom!
The Washington Memorial stands clearer than the moon
And even though not many see it.
If you saw it, you would belive it
That the obelisk standing there without a fright
Is adding its own little red glow to the night
