Anime is the Japanese cartoon based on the manga. The manga usually comes before the anime. For example you can read the manga of naruto, or you can watch the anime of Naruto.

ooh ooh ooh!!! ii had that question once!!! here is what this dude told me...ok ummm....hopefully you know naaruto so anime is like a normal episode of naruto you watch on cartoonnetwork or something but manga has a little extra. like in the book it shows kakashi in his kid days and what happend to him with his friend obito(uchiha) which died from a giant rock squishing him but before he died he gave kakshi his sharngan eye and that explains why kakashi has sharingan but in the show which is anime doesnt have all the details in so yeah.......
