hello there

i was wondering if there was an easy and effective way of colouring with the drawingnow flash applet since it doesn't have a paint bucket.. well it does but its more like drawing a shape that is filled with colour. but looking at my colouring lately it just sucks. im thinking about doing the colouring first then draw outlines. what do you think any suggestions.

also staff_illlustrator i see you go in shades with the fill tool but when i try it it fails so hard if you see my latest naruto tutorial you'll see my failure. i dunno if you read forums but yea how do u colour accurately.

well, this question was not directed at me, but If I were to add my 2 cents, I was the same way as you when I first joined this site..

I could not use that fill tool at all but I keep on useing it and got the hang of it. So, my advice to you is to keep on pratcing with it and you will get the hang of it soon.

Coloring then drawing the outline later is a good way to do it but you might have more errors in the drawing. try to use the sketch layer and draw a rough sketch of what you want, then go to the normal layer and color it in. then go back and draw the finsing lines.

Hope I was of some help to you.

Hi Venemous and Unreal Pie,

Thanx for these comments about the tools.  I do use a digital pen and tablet which makes my painting easier.

You're right - it does take a little practice to use this particular paint bucket tool but once you get the hang of it its simple.  I use transparent color in layers usually.

If you prefer to paint the background first in a solid color, use either the fill bucket or the airbrush.

then use a transparent grey or white pencil to put in guidelines.  Once you have fleshed in the real outline in an oopaque black, you can erase guidelines using the exact same background color pencil.
