YO, i know this may seem like a drag to some of u guys, but seriously, i got some really good stuff in my gallery but hardly any1 goes there! so heres what i wanna do with this, i drew another drawing just a sec ago. it'll be on 12/3/09, (tomorrow) at 6:30 pm australian time. The fall of the Han dynasty 220 AD.

In ancient china, the land was united and peaceful during the great Han dynasty. The Han dynasty was probably the most successful dynasty in all of China’s great history. During the Han dynasty many new inventions and ideas were made, such as the idea of using oxen to farm on large fields, the wheel barrow, paper was first created in 105 AD, silk, the first magnetic compass and even the first form of seismograph.

The Han dynasty was ruled by the Liu clan who had peasant origins. It lasted over 400 years and is still considered as 1 of the greatest points of Chinese history by people today. It was during the Han dynasty that china grew most, with new ideas and inventions, especially domestically. Its population also grew to 56 million and expanded its territory, taking over part of Korea, Vietnam and Mongolia. During the Han dynasty the Chinese military grew very strong to. The Han dynasty also started using the Silk Road to, but back then it was used for military purposes. It was only used for exporting silk later.

With the Han dynasty being so powerful, a lot of people could be wondering, why did the Han dynasty fall? The answer is that the Han dynasty eventually had a bad ruler. Emperor Ling ruled over the Han dynasty from 156 to 189 AD. Unfortunately he did not know how to lead a nation forward. He allowed the government to become corrupt and grossly over tax and harass the peasants. Those, as well as a great famine to the north, eventually lead to public out cries and rebellions.

The most severe rebellion was in 184 when a large group of peasants, with or without land of their own, formed a group and rebelled against emperor ling and the Han dynasty. They were known as the Yellow Turbans because of the yellow scarves they wore on their heads. The rebellion was lead by Zhang Jiao, known as the “general of heaven” and his two brothers, Zhang Bao and Zhang Liang. The three brothers were originally healers, usually choosing patients who could not afford to pay them. They saw the injustice around them through their work with peasants.

Zhang Jiao was said to be a great sorcerer and he and his brothers had started a Taoist religious sect. He and his followers were said to have followed the “way of supreme peace” but their acts were definitely not very peaceful as their followers attacked other villagers like themselves who did not want to follow them.

The Yellow Turbans were eventually defeated, but they certainly had a great impact on the Han dynasty. The Han dynasty lost a lot of land to other rising war lords who ceased control with the yellow turban distraction, and when the emperor died in 189, there was a fight for power. The fight for power resulted in He Jins assassination on September 22 189 giving the eunuch family control over the throne. He Jins ally Yuan Shao set the palace on fire and killed the eunuch family members as vengeance for He Jins death leaving Dong Zhuo the chance to take over the capital, but he was quickly stopped by allied forces in 192.

As written above, the land was plunged into chaos at the end of the Han dynasty. And the chaos didn’t stop there either. After Dong Zhuo was killed, the land was occupied by 3 kingdoms. The Wu kingdom, taking over the land in the name of the Sun family, the Wei kingdom, taking the land in the name of the Cao family, and the Shu kingdom, attempting to restore the Han dynasty to its former glory. This is known as the three kingdoms period but it is a long and complicated story for another time.
