Chibi characters have big heads and small childlike bodies. They are generally very cute and have big eyes. They have a small nose and mouth.. if they have them at all.
Start with guidelines in 30% black pencil. Begin by sketching a circle for the head and two lines for the hairline. Don't forget the guideline for the eyes. Add two lines for the arms and a curvy 'W' shape for the body and legs.
Use a thick black pencil to add the details. Erase the guidelines with white pencil.
Fill in colours using the paint tool. add two pale pink ovals on the face below the eyes for nice rosy cheeks. The hair is black and its highlights dark blue.
You can try using the same basic body shape to create different characters. Just change the clothes and the hair. For example - Give your character red hair and a ponytail. Try it out! Have fun!

Thanx, though I do use a digital pen and tablet that makes my work easier. Please play the animation on a slow speed and then copy it first on paper. Use the guideline technique to get your proportions right. enjoy.
