Here is a poem I wrote in roughly 10 minutes. You can keep it simple and nice. Mothers always like cards, but they enjoy poems much more! My parents started crying when they read this. (Accompany that with a non-cheap-looking present or something you made.) Here is the poem I wrote. It can serve as a sample to help stimulate ideas for your mum's day poem:
Love
Love
is like a flower...
Blooming in the sunlight of others' affection
Love
is like a ripple...
It starts at the center and works it's way out
Love
is like a cake...
You just want more and more of it
Love
is like a disease...
Whenever you are around, it spreads
Love
is like a boomerang...
No matter how much you wanna get rid of it, it keeps coming back
Love
is like a heart...(a circle would be better but I used "heart")
It never ends
But like everything else in this world, it has chances to fade. The flower might die of the sunlight decides to leave. The ripple might stop after it's gone too far. The cake might make you sick. The disease might be cured. The boomerang might go off track. But the heart(circle)... it will never end.
That's my love to you and it will never end. You deserve it; with all the care, effort, sweat, and most of all: LOVE. You really deserve something in return. This is the most I can give you, so I hope you will enjoy forever bathing in my unbreakable LOVE.(Decorate the "love" at the end.)
Happy Mother's Day
(Cartoon of family with you looking at mom.)
I have allowed you to read this and copy the format, but NOT THE EXACT WORD FOR WORD! Please don't steal this poem, but you can use the same idea with different analogies. Have fun with!
Best of wishes,
Anonymous2000
(Kathryn)

My Wish
Today,
my day,
this sad day.
The sky: blue
clouds,
plenty
My tree sits there
withered
fatigued
Lonely
so am i
we are alike
i wish for...
the clouds to
disappear
and dissipate
My tree
to GROW
bearing yellow
come day,
come night,
a Bright shining star!
I wish again.
Not a cloud in sight!
though my tree,
unchanged.
This was one of my open poems so it doesn't rhyme. I hope you enjoyed it!

I love ballet. I do it four days a week in Japan. The teachers are strict, but nice. The staff is even nicer there. Before I performed, I got my picture taken! It was one of those professional setups with a blue background and I did two ballet poses. That was one of the great experiences that I can take back to America.(I'm only staying in Japan for a year from 2008-2009. My friend says that it was useless if I wasn't going to Tokyo Disney but I still thought it was a great experience.) I play the violin and piano. I enjoy them both at times. I like playing songs I already know on the piano because learning a hard new song on the piano takes a lot of time to learn a song which I have no patience for. I'm OK with new songs on the violin because(if it's a relatively easy) it only takes up to 5 min to get the basic idea if you've heard it before. An example would be Canon in D. It takes two hands on the piano whereas violin only takes on hand for fingering. But this is my opinion. I like art as you can see. I have made four drawings so far and am working on a fifth. Apart from school I'm not taking any art lessons so my work isn't anywhere near as good as some of the artwork here but I try. I dislike plain avocados. Just plain gushy avocados don't do it for me. Too... I don't know. I've had a bad experience with an abalone. In one of the hot springs near the beach, they served abalone on a grill... Still alive in its shell! It was squirming around until the server put something on it and it started to sizzle. Sorry if that put a gross image in your mind. At school, we have to run the mile which I hate because you feel really bad in your chest after you've done that under 8 minutes. I'm not a good runner and was not used to it because in American public schools, they don't make you run the mile in middle school. Well, sorry I droned on for so long about my not so interesting life. Thanks for reading if you did and I hope you enjoyed reading.
