TUTORIAL DETAILS
Chibi means “short person” or “small child” in Japanese. Anime Chibis are thus the small versions of regular anime characters. If you are to draw, for example, a daughter of Sailor Moon, then you will have to draw a chibi. They are super cut and are much easier and fun to draw. These days, especially in the western context, anime chibis are equated with figures that aren’t proportional – big heads and short and small bodies. You’ve got a naughty looking boy chibi in this free online lesson on How to Draw Anime Chibis. Chibis usually have the same big, round eyes though they also usually have no defined nose and are only sketched with small lips. You can browse through the net for some techniques on how to let a certain emotion or expression come out in their faces by playing with their eyebrows, irises, and pupils. But for now, you can try sketching one cute chibi by following the step by step instructions of this How to Draw Anime Chibis tutorial. With much practice, you can be a great chibi artist.
