The word dice came from an Old French term and a Latin term which mean “something given to be played”. Indeed, that’s what a dice is, right? We normally see it in board games. Did you know that the oldest dice was found in Iran as part of a 5000 year old backgammon set? Backgammon is among the oldest board games. Also, old dices are made of animals’ “knucklebones”. We know how a standard dice looks like – it’s a cube with the numbers one through six; one number on each side. The numbers are indicated by circular patches called pips.
