How to draw Flapjack

Flapjack is a young boy raised by a talking whale named Bubbie. Flapjack, Captain K'nuckles, and Bubbie are in search of the Candied Island and the highly sought-after title of "Adventurer."

To draw Flapjack, I've started first with guidelines in 30% black pencil. He's got a big head, so I've done a nice big circle for it. Next we have the guidelines for his eyes nose and mouth.

Flapjack's body is really tiny compared to his head, and is shapes like a water drop, broad at the bottom and narrow where the neck is.

Stick lines show me where the hands and legs will come.

Now add the details with black pencil. His eyes are big circles with little black circles inside for the eyeballs. The fingers are simple up and down lines. His teeth and tongue all have a W shape.

After finishing the details, I've erased the guidelines by going over them with a white pencil.

I've coloured him in with transparent colours using the paint bucket tool.

The background is done in shades of purple. You can use a transparent mid tone to merge the dark and light purples together.

Last of all, I've cleaned up the drawing by going over the black lines with a black pencil.

So that's Flapjack! Hope you like him!
