Call him World Destroyer or Beast of the Apocalypse, Right Hand of Doom, or just plain Hellboy, this is one book you certainly should not judge by its cover. Hellboy might be a demon, but this big red bloke is one of the good guys. When things go bump in the night, he bumps back.
I've started with an oval guideline for the head using light grey pencil. In addition to the guidelines for the eyes, nose and mouth, I've sketched another line above Hellboy's eyes where the stumps of his horns are.
His arm is a sitck line, and I've boxed in the fingers of his hand. The thumb though is separate.
I've drawn in the details with black pencil. Hellboy, has a square jaw and his eyes don't have pupils. I erased the guidelines with white pencil.
I've painted Hellboy with transparent colours. For the finer details, I've used the pencil tool.
Magic fingers! Actually, I do use a digital pen that makes it easier. But i also have plenty of practice - 25 years of it! I've tried different media and love to experiment with characters. I love people - especially kids who love to draw!
