How to Draw Wolverine


Wolverine from Xmen strikes a dramatic pose in this extreme close up. The traumatised young James witnessed his father's murder. This activates his mutation and he grows long bone claws that protrude from his hands. With this he kills the murderer who is actually his real father.

Step 1-

I started sketching this with guidelines in transparent grey pencil lines, outlining his face and putting in curves to align his eyes, nose and mouth.


Step 2-

Then I used a clear black pencil lline to put in the details. Later I painted the face with a transparent orange and filled in thick shadows on the centre of the face for a dramatic effect.


Step 3-

Last of all I sketched in the long sharp claws that criss cross in front of his face. A fluorescent green lightly painted in the background with an airbrush gives a lurid look.
