How to draw a cartoon piranha fish

Sharks and barracudas are nothing to this guy. His sharp teeth and voracious appetite for meat ensure that only the foolhardy will venture near his water. Learn to draw this cartoon piranha with the mean attitude by following the step by step instructions of this tutorial.

Step 1
Start by sketching the guidelines – you should do this for all your drawing, whether cartoon or realistic. Here, I have sketched an oval for the body, a C shape for the tail and triangular shapes for the fins. I have also sketched the outlines for the lower lip, fangs and chin.

Step 2
This is where the details get filled in – here I’ve used a black pencil. I’ve given the outline some character by making it thicker in certain places rather than leaving it even throughout. I’ve also added black shadows with the pencil, making it look more 3d and dramatic.

Step 3
Erase the guidelines and then it’s time to color! I’ve used the airbrush tool and transparent colours to paint my piranha- a light brownish orange, a darker shade of the same colour and a little yellow. I’ve added highlights in transparent whote with the pencil tool.
