How to Draw Sumo Wrestling-

This is not someone fooling around in an inflatable Sumo wrestling costume.They are traditional Sumo wrestlers in the middle of a tournament - its not a sumo wrestling online game. Sumo wrestling is one of the oldest and most popular martial arts in Japan.

Step 1 -

The grey pencil guidelines I used here helped me get the proportions right for these 2 wrestlers in action. The legs and arms are intertwined and that's why its so much easier to draw with guidelines. I first drew the bodies with a circle for each head to get the position right. One head comes below the soulders - but the other one's head is thrown to one side. When drawing the stick arms and legs, it helps when I sketch in the small circles to show each joint - the shoulders, the elbows and the the knees and ankles. This is because they are so muscular and big.

Step 2-
Now a flesh out the figures in black pencil strokes with the muscles in the right places- the htighs and bodies are huge. Their hair is bunched on top of the head.

Step 3-

The airbrush is a good tool to color in the bodies with a transparent pink and then add brown shadows for the darks.

Step 4-

I used the pencil stroke for finishing the painting with details like the black belt with beads.
