My cat has had diabetes. We discovered He had it on December 31st 2010. Prices have gone up on everything so it is impossible to give the shots he needs now.

His Information:
His name is Cody and he is only 3 years old. No one knows his exact birthday so we gave him a fake birthday which is May 21st, he was actually my early birthday persent. As he was growing up some kids had visited and was being mean to him. There was nothing I could do though, I couldn't tell them to leave because they were my mom's friends kids. With that, Cody thought there was mean in everyone, but my family. But I've taught him not all are mean, he use to be a bully to my best friend Kaia, but after her coutless visits and attempts to reach out to him, he finally started to be good to strangers. He use to be around other cats, but he was too ruff to play with them. As of right now he seems to be doing just fine.

Need Your Advice:
I love my cat so much I'd like to do what is best for him. There are two choices left for him. I need you guys to tell me which path I should choose for him. I can either go with what my mom thinks, put him to sleep once when he gets too bad and not let him suffer anymore. Or... We can attempt to give him away for someone else to take care of him, to give him the shots and everything he needs.

Please tell what you think I should do.

I strongly agree with Zorishi. Michelle, your ideology in relevance to animals is noble but unfortunately unrealistic. If the medicine is that expensive it would be best to put him to sleep to reduce his suffering.

I remember my cat got that way, we had to give him away, but a cat can only feel suffering for so long. If he is at rest, it's the best purpose for something. That way, he'll understand what you were trying to do even though healing the soul isn't as close as you would have hoped. I'll pray for your...

This reminds me of my cat Spike
He died at 17 and 1/2 years old. My mom couldn't give him away because his organs were failing. Eventually he died, but if I only had more time with him.....
Anyway, if you give him away in early stages, he could find a home, but people want younger cats with less healt...

I think you should put him to sleep. It's the best thing you know. You don't want him to suffer do you.
