Chapter 27:
"So what happened with you and Roland this morning?" Jacob asks.
"Oh, just starting a little friendship. He's Noelle's new lover by the way."
I walk quickly but he matches me hurried strides.
"What!? That's great,Skylar."
"Yeah, it is. I told him to tell her. I hope he listened to my advice."
Jacob puts his arm around me and we keep walking. Then my cell phone goes off in my back pocket. I look at the caller ID, I don't know the number, but I pick it up.
"Hello?"
"Hey. Skylar?"
"Yeah, who is this?"
"It's me. Uhm, Roland Hamets."
"Oh,hey. What's up?"
"Nothing, I just wanted to tell you thank you for helping me. I owe you. Noelle and I are together. After so long I finally got my love."
"Oh, that's great,Ronald. I'm glad you two worked it out. I hope this means we're friends now."
"Yes, we are. I just called saying thank you and I owe you big time."
"Yes, of course. I'm always here."
We ex-change our good-byes and I turn to Jacob with a big grin.
"What?" Jacob says.
"They did it!!! Noelle and Roland are together!!!"
Jacob beams and hugs me so tight. I grab his hand and we run all the way home. Home... I like that. Our home. Forever. I think then... I use the element of air so we could get there faster and it did. To the heck with draining myself.
"Skylar, you're doing it,love!"
He unfurls his wings and flies us the rest of the way. We land on the dock outside our room. We open the door and we're on the bed laughing.
"That was so fun,Jake."
"Yeah, it was."
Jake rolls over on top of me and kisses me. I think its like that for a few hours, but then we do our homework. While we're doing geography I pass out. I'm not in my body anymore. More like...Lucifer's god damn body.
