how did you do the thing where you colored in the hair, shirt etc. without covering the black lines?

There is like 3 layers. There is a tracing one a sketching one and another one..I thinks its the drawing one(its the first one/top one) You draw on the drawing one a color on the sketching one (the second one/middle one)
