How to add a GIF profile picture if it is possible??

How can I add a GIF profile picture is it even possible to do that?? If so how because I tried to add a gif picture from a glitter graphic site to be my profile picture but it is animated and it did not do the movements it just was frozen in one place . Anyone know why?? because it should move in my opinion then be still not sure what it is causing it though because the original moves.
