First, on the Site Menu, click on My Account. On the Top Panel, click on Settings. On the list that appears, click on Design My Profile. It will take you there to design and add a background for your profile. If you're done, scroll down and click on the button Save Profile Settings. Check your profile just to make sure your profile has been designed.
