Hey you know that Westlife song Seasons in the Sun? Well this tutorial has absolutely nothing to do with that Westlife song… just in case you were wondering. Except, well I was listening to Seasons in the Sun a couple of minutes ago and doodling a bit. Result? You now have a tutorial on How to draw a sun. This tutorial is dedicated to that big yellow ball in the sky that makes our lives possible, the sun. I’ve got to say though, this summer I’ve been trying really hard to avoid the sun. It is really, REALLY HOT where I live, 1 hour out in the sun and you would melt faster than Frosty the Snowman! Oh and since I’ve been seeing so little of the real sun, this tutorial will be on how to draw a cartoon sun. Enjoy!
Step 1
Yup we start with a big yellow circle. Next come the rays. If you think you’re getting a sunflower, just be patient, follow the tutorial carefully, you’ll get a sun in the end.
Step 2
Use the airbrush tool to colour. A second darker shade of orange over the base will make your sun look more vibrant. This is a cartoon sun, so don’t forget the smiley face : ).
That’s it, that’s How to draw a sun. If you’re looking up at the sun right now to see if you got it right, remember not to stare to long, and of course… this is a cartoon sun! Hope you liked it : ).
