Have you a bat in the house? Not a baseball bat or a cricket bat… a living one.. the kind that flies around? Bats are nocturnal creatures and prefer nights to days. Forelimbs of bats are webbed and developed as wings so they can fly. They are the Bat in Batman too. In 'A Bat Divided', we see Batman fly to the rescue. If this has got you interested in bats, follow this drawing tutorial and learn how to draw a bat.
Step 1
Sketch in the guidelines with grey pencil. Draw a small circle for the head, a larger circle for the body and 2 leaf shaped ears. The wings span outwards and are large. Three bony veins meet at the centre of the wing top. Below the wing curves inward in the typical bat look.
Step 2
Paint the background black for the night. With shades of purple, airbrush the wings and ears. Fill in brown tones for the body and tint the wings with it too.
Step 3
Add transparent purple curved strokes below to indicate movement. Use white with a thin pencil to highlight the bony wings and thin ears.
