Still life flowers make for great art subjects, and learning how to draw daffodils can get you started. This online drawing tutorial is free, and lets you see how to draw your own daffodils from start to finish. All the final shading and coloring is included in the step-by-step animation. You can make the viewing window larger so you can see all the fine detail, or pause any of the steps during the video. It's a great drawing project for a fine spring day. These sunny daffodils nod their heads to say a cheery 'Hi!'
Step 1 Begin by sketching in the guidelines. The simplest shapes of a daffodil are a cylinder, surrounded by a circle of petals.
Step 2 Draw in the details with a black pencil- a wavy line for the inner cylinder and leaf shaped petals. After erasing the guidelines for the flowers, the grass can be sketched in.
Step 3 We start the coloring with a base of a trans parent yellow, a light yellow for the petals and a dark yellow for the inside of the cylinders. We give the petals more depth with transparent yellow and grey shades. Brow and yellow are used for the inside of the cylinders to give more depth. The grass has a dark shade, and a lighter one and are airbrushed over with a perkier green. Finer details are done with pencil. The grey with airbrushed black shadow between the flowers and grass are to make them stand out. The background is airbrushed in two shades of transparent blue. Finer shading is done with a pencil in solid colors.
Thanks! So do I!
Thanks. Great that you enjoyed it. Now try drawing it yourself.
Thanks. Just think - if you can write - you can certainly draw. Because writing is a form of drawing.
