I'm doing a project for English about myths around the world. I'm supposed to have a greek, a roman and two others. So, I'm doing one of them on a filipino myth. I did a bit of reasearch and found quite a few strange (and creepy) creature/people/things.
The first one I searched up was the aswang, which is the only one I kind of know about. There are a lot of types, apparently, but I think they're pretty much vampires. The one I know of takes children at night. When i researched I found another which takes the form of a happy man and hunts down women and drinks their blood. They can change into animals too.
Then I looked up the Dila. It's a tongue creature thing that can float through floors of provincial homes and lick certain people to death.
The one with the creepiest picture was the Tiyanak. It's a demon child that cries in jungles to attract travelers, then kills them. They also kindly help travelers get lost and kidnap children. Some stories say they look like children with fangs and claws, or little old men with uneven legs, or a flying baby, or a blackbird, or small brown people with large noses.
Yeah, I only went through killer-monster things. But there are also Sirena(Mermaids), Tikbalang(Demon Horses), Mambabarang(Spirit-Summoner), Diwata(Fairies) and Duwende(Dwarfs). I've only researched a few. I'm probably going to do the Aswang or the Tiyanak.
